Slackmine connects Redmine 7 and Slack so teams can follow issues, discuss work, and make permitted changes without leaving the conversation. Developed by Unchained.
Features¶
- Event notifications: Send Issue, Wiki, News, time entry, Version, Project, Document, file, and forum events to Slack. Configure event switches, metadata, colors, wording, mentions, body diffs, and supported inline images.
- Project routing: Choose project or default channels, match unique channel names, inherit parent-project channels, and use project-specific Slack apps or tokens.
- Issue Work Objects: Show configurable Issue previews and current details in Slack. Add comments and edit permitted status, assignee, priority, due date, and description; assign to yourself, start or complete work, and watch or unwatch. Redmine permissions and workflows apply.
- Thread connections: Connect an existing Slack conversation to an Issue using a message shortcut. Review selected past posts as one quoted comment, then save future replies and attachments under mapped Redmine users. Disconnect from the same shortcut.
- Notification-thread replies: Save Slack replies as Redmine comments, optionally combining consecutive posts by the same person. Import supported attachments and control confirmation messages.
- Search and creation: Find, create, and update Issues through slash commands and forms. A separate message shortcut creates an Issue from a selected Slack message.
- App Home and reminders: Browse personal Issue lists and permitted actions in App Home; receive scheduled or on-demand due-date DM digests.
- Slack links and quotes: Save searchable snapshots of linked Slack messages in Issue text and display cards with links to the source conversation.
- Delivery and preferences: Configure file-transfer restrictions and optional per-project exceptions. Users may opt out of supported notification emails when Slack notification settings and channel membership qualify; account and security emails remain enabled.
Enable the features you need through YAML and configure their Slack scopes and event subscriptions. No plugin-specific database migration is required. See the README on the repository homepage for configuration, permissions, and limits.
Previously named Redmine Event Notifications for Slack (redmine_slack_notification). Existing installations must update the plugin/configuration names, Slack endpoints, and shortcut IDs when migrating to Slackmine.
Installation notes
Installation¶
- Use Redmine 7.0 or later. Clone the repository into the plugins/slackmine directory.
- Copy config/slackmine.yml.example to the Redmine application config directory as slackmine.yml. Set the Bot Token and destination channel IDs. Keep real tokens and configuration out of Git.
- For Japanese display wording, copy config/slackmine.messages.ja.yml.example to the Redmine application config directory as slackmine.messages.yml. For customized English wording, use config/slackmine.messages.yml.example as the starting point. English defaults work without a separate message file.
- Create and install a Slack app with a Bot Token and the chat:write scope. Invite the bot to destination channels. Add the scopes, events, request URLs, and shortcut callback IDs needed for the features you enable. The README has a feature setup table.
- Configure ActiveJob or Sidekiq to process the slack queue. Restart Redmine and Sidekiq after changing code or YAML. No plugin-specific database migration is required.
When migrating from redmine_slack_notification, rename the plugin and configuration files, update Slack request URLs and shortcut IDs, and replace old rake task names. Drain old queued jobs before replacing the code.
Changelog
1.4.0 (2026-10-08)
Compatible with Redmine 7.0.x.
Changes since 1.2.1¶
- Connect a Slack conversation to an existing Redmine Issue through a message shortcut. Review selected past posts as one quoted comment, import future replies and attachments, and disconnect from the same shortcut.
- Improve response times by handling Work Object details and short actions in the Redmine web process. Longer work, including URL unfurls, post-save refreshes, App Home lists, slash-command delivery, and connection saves, uses the background queue. Thread-history review falls back to the queue after two seconds.
- Add configurable file-transfer restrictions with source-link alternatives and project-specific exceptions.
- Separate display wording from behavior settings in slackmine.messages.yml. English defaults and a Japanese wording example are included.
- Improve duplicate-operation handling and responses when Slack interactions fail.
See the README on the repository homepage for configuration and feature-specific requirements.
1.2.1 (2026-10-07)
Compatible with Redmine 7.0.x.
Changes since 1.0.0¶
- Optional batching combines consecutive replies from the same person while preserving message order, source links, and attachments. When another person speaks, the preceding turn saves without waiting for the remaining quiet period.
- Keep conversations readable by hiding comment-save confirmations or deleting them after a configurable delay. Original Slack replies and Redmine comments remain; the default leaves confirmations visible.
- Bot messages and messages mentioning bots or app users are excluded from comment imports.
- Import supported Slack-uploaded images and other files as Redmine attachments, with associated quote-card previews or file links.
- Added switches to disable Slack link retrieval and all cards, or only Redmine web cards. Existing quotes remain readable. Documented how to disable assignee mentions.
- Updated English and Japanese setup tables covering per-feature Slack scopes, events, request URLs, and shortcut configuration.
1.0.0 (2026-10-05)
Compatible with Redmine 7.0.x.
Slackmine 1.0.0¶
- Document, file, and forum notifications now cover creation, editing, and deletion.
- Notification switches, headings, and icons can be configured globally or per project in YAML.
- Email suppression follows enabled Redmine mail triggers. Unrelated changes no longer prevent suppressing a comment notification when general issue-update emails are disabled.
- Creation and edit notifications default to enabled; deletion notifications default to disabled.
