communication between 2 redmine databases

Added by gabriel scolan over 14 years ago

Hi,
I have a similar issue than #3125, not to merge but to make 2 redmine database communicate "as if" they were just one. The goal is to let some suppliers or customers work on their own database, and have the possibility from our database to have the same features (like issues linking, project consolidation with subprojects) as if they would work in our database.
The necessity of this is because there is some limitation for external company to access my company network, and it would be better to have multiple databases in my company for administration issues, dataprotection, security, storage, access timing (from multiple site) issue.

any idea ?

many thanks
gabriel

Redmine doesn't support inter-instance communication. The best shot at this would be to have a database that supports instant replication (i.e. an update on one gets applied to all databases in the group) and have the exact same codebase running over the databases, but I'm not sure you'd be better off with that over just giving access to your redmine installation to your clients.

there is some security issue I can't go around alone, and the internal processes to let any external guy accessing the company network is very long (to be evaluated in years ...)

thanks for your support however.
