Comprehensive Statistics

Added by John Bart over 12 years ago

I'm working at a private company and we use Redmine for our daily bug tracking. Out of personal need we wrote a quite comprehensive statistics application (standalone) that connects to the Redmine database. We're looking for ways to donate this to the community. I'd like to discuss this with someone from the Redmine team prior to making any announcements and see how this fits. For technical reasons I'd be happy to describe in more detail, it will probably not be possible to use the classic plugin mechanism.

The attached screenshot shows some of the possibilities, shrinked to hide confidential data.

Is this a Ruby app, what stats does it render, is there some possibility to make its own reports ?

Nope, it's a .NET application (which is one of the reasons that will prohibit a "normal" plugin) and would probably be released with sources. It renders stats on ticket assignees and authors, open/closed tickets, distribution on different statuses as well as history information (tickets in status x vs. dates, changed issues vs. dates, created issues vs. dates). Should be pretty expandable, we're currently working on integrating SCM information as well. Also, it comes with a fully fledged report designer that makes all reports highly customizable. I'd be happy to give you more details in a private discussion as I'm not yet allowed to fully disclose the app (I apologize very much for the sneakiness, however the app uses products of us that are not yet released but will soon be).

We've meanwhile finished the SCM integration and added statistics of changes/changesets per day and user. Of course we could simply offer the app for download once it's finished however I'd prefer to get your feedback before doing so to make sure it's done right and it's approved by you. We'd also like to use the redmine logo in the report artwork if possible. You can contact me anytime if you want to.

Well, here is another try to grab the attention of someone from the Redmine team <g>. We're probably ready for release round Xmas, however I'd really like to discuss the application with you prior to releasing it. Just drop me a short note here and I'll get in contact with you swiftly.

We've meanwhile decided to post this project to CodePlex by the end of December - even if it's unapproved. Would we be allowed to use the Redmine logo artwork combined with the application's logo? Would make sense for the users. I really would appreciate if someone in charge could contact me or comment on this.

Considering https://github.com/edavis10/redmine_logo/blob/2afe855c4e9cd955b648972d09cc20d76dabbf4c/COPYRIGHT it shouldn't be a problem to use them.

We've meanwhile released the statistics app on CodePlex. Sources and precompiled binaries are available from http://redminereports.codeplex.com/.

Added it to the ThirdPartyTools list, feel free to update the description if needed.
