Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the "My Page" tab/option in the top menu?

You can use a custom plugin to do this using the menu API (see #12969 note 4 and 5 and Plugin_Tutorial).

maybe I'm missing it but it seems as though the link you posted only shows how to adjust the tabs that would be within a project. I want to adjust the global tab located at the very top of the page where Home and My Page are. I want to remove My Page. Is that possible using this same logic?

I still need help with this. I would either like to remove the "My Page" tab in the main context menu or at the very least change the link to go to another location. Please advise.

Nevermind. Found it. The grep command can be a powerful thing!
