Upgrading from very old version: from 0.6.x to 2.3.0 - Any advice?
Added by Michele Imperiali about 12 years ago
Hi all,
Here is my situation: very old version of RedMine (0.6.x) and wanting to upgrade to the latest one (2.3.0).
I'm wondering if I can do the upgrade straight to 2.3.0 or it has to be gradual, for ex. first to 1.x, then 2.x and then 2.3.0.
Does anyone know of a reason I shouldn't be following the first option?
Thanks in advance for your help.

You should do the upgrade straight to 2.3.0 but I've never heard of such a version gap with Redmine =)

Hi,
I'm looking support because i made a upgrade from version 0.9.3 to 2.3.0
The migration was fine, BUT I'm having some issues with the ISSUES, GANT and CALENDAR tabs with my new Redmine.
All I get is a 500 error page.
The other features are working fine.
So basically my advice is test with a separate virtual machine installation and test all the features of Redmine.
The plugins are the most problematic fact in the upgrade process, they have many issues with compatibility.

- 1.3.x -> 1.4.x - introduces bundler
- 1.4.x -> 2.x.x - many things changed: leave mongrel and use thin or puma; upgrade to Ruby 1.9.3, use mysql2 adapter; upgrade plugins (I waited about 3 months for upgraded plugins).
Try incremental upgrades, on some virtual machine.
