2.3 sub-uri with Apache in mod_proxy, proxy_balancer fails

I am trying to deploy 2.3 using Apache mod_proxy and mod_proxy_balancer. I cannot use passenger because of restrictions. Has anyone been successful in deploying 2.3 to a sub uri without Passenger or nginx? Thank you.

Ivan,

Could you point out what I should be looking for in this guide? I should have stated that my server is running on RHEL 6 not windows. I also see nothing in here about sub uri, and the previous Redmine guide is out of date (IMO).
