Redmine

Is it possible or does it make sense to install Redmine via gem?

I just saw it is in the list of packages. I'm trying to install Redmine on RHEL 6.6, and ruby, gem, bundle was all there, installed from the yum package manager. I thought that I could skip manual downloading and installing.

Should I do it that way if possible? Or are there any drawbacks?

Though I don't understand the version 0.1.4: https://rubygems.org/gems/redmine/versions/0.1.4 .

Any recommendations?
