Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down

Added by Kirk Fitzgerald almost 6 years ago

I have my Redmine setup on linux/RedHat 7.4 and using an Apache server. Everything works, but, if I go to edit an user for example, the stylesheets do not display. Its functional, no problems there, but it is just white and black texts. Example is attached.

Any ideas on the issue?
Let me know what logs or files need to be shared to help troubleshoot.

Any assistance is appreciated!

Hello Kirk,
Please try this:
  1. In Chrome, navigate to a page with the issue
  2. Press F12 (Show Developer Tools)
  3. Press Ctrl+F5 to reload the page without cache
  4. Check for errors in the Developer Tools console and post your finding here
    You can also have a look in the Network tab of the Developer Tools.

I expect to find either a 404 error for CSS files due to Apache conf issue or maybe a mixed content error.

Cheers,

Thanks for the start!

Yes, you are correct, its a 404 issue, as I kinda expected as well. So is this an error within the httpd.conf file?

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Martin Denizet (redmine.org team member) almost 6 years ago

I never saw that one!
A suggestion: Go to Administration/Settings/General
Set the Hostname and path to hsoredmine see if that helps.

Are you using some kind of reverse proxy? What are you using with Apache?

Cheers,

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Kirk Fitzgerald almost 6 years ago

No different with that change, was already set to that.

I have RedHat 7.4, Apache server, mariadb, Passenger, and a virtualhost setup in the conf file

It seems to be 3 levels down when the issue occurs.

For instance:
go from the home page to Projects, then click a project it occurs.
go from the home page to users, to a username edit page and it occurs
go from the home page to issues to import and it occurs

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Martin Denizet (redmine.org team member) almost 6 years ago

Can you upload here your Apache/Passenger config please?

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Kirk Fitzgerald almost 6 years ago

So for another example:

responsive.css on the error pages has the path of hsoredmine/users/stylesheets/responsive.css
when it should be...
http://hsoredmine/stylesheets/responsive.css

#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so 'log/access_log'
# with ServerRoot set to '/www' will be interpreted by the
# server as '/www/log/access_log', where as '/log/access_log' will be
# interpreted as '/log/access_log'.

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the
# Mutex directive, if file-based mutexes are used. If you wish to share the
# same ServerRoot for multiple httpd daemons, you will need to change at
# least PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "/etc/httpd"

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

#
# To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you
# have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the
# directives contained in it are actually available _before_ they are used.
# Statically compiled modules (those listed by `httpd -l') do not need
# to be loaded here.
#
# Example:
# LoadModule foo_module modules/mod_foo.so
#
Include conf.modules.d/*.conf

Hello,
I suggest you try the following changes:

<VirtualHost *>
-  ServerName http://hsoredmine
+  ServerName hsoredmine
  DocumentRoot /var/www/redmine/public/
  RailsEnv production
-  RailsBaseURI /redmine
+  PassengerBaseURI /
+  PassengerAppRoot /var/www/redmine/
  PassengerDefaultUser apache
-  <Directory /var/www/redmine>
+  <Directory /var/www/redmine/public>
-                Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
+    # Apache 2.4 syntax:
+    Options FollowSymLinks
+    Require all granted
-                AllowOverride None
-                Order allow,deny
-                allow from all
 </Directory>
</VirtualHost>

Did you do other modifications to have Redmine to work in a sub-URI?

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Kirk Fitzgerald almost 6 years ago

Tried the above, same result after restarting.

I don't think I did the sub-uri portion.

Here is the final lines of my enviroment.rb file:

@# Initialize the Rails application
Rails.application.initialize!

ENV['RAILS_ENV'] ||= 'production'
Redmine::Utils::relative_url_root = "../"@

Trying to read the instructions in the link, and get a little confused. should change that to?:
@RedmineApp::Application.routes.default_scope = "/redmine"
  1. Initialize the Rails application
    Rails.application.initialize!@

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Martin Denizet (redmine.org team member) almost 6 years ago

Hello,
Yep, I think this time we got it!

Reset your environment.rb :

# Initialize the Rails application
Rails.application.initialize!

- ENV['RAILS_ENV'] ||= 'production'
- Redmine::Utils::relative_url_root = "../"@ #I'm pretty sure this is the line messing things up!

See original file for latest 3.4.x release: https://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/repository/entry/branches/3.4-stable/config/environment.rb
You didn't need to run Redmine in a sub-URI, right?

Cheers,

RE: Redmine Stylesheets-not showing levels down - Added by Kirk Fitzgerald almost 6 years ago

No, I don't think I need the sub uri;

Awesome! That fixed it.

Thank you for your patience, time, and help. I am so very grateful to you!
