[Solved] Which versions are under maintenance and which are EOL (end of life)?

Added by Anonymous about 2 years ago

I tried to figure out which versions of Redmine are currently under support: Judging from the Download page it should at least be 4.2 and 4.1.
3.x seems to have fallen out of support at some point, which is only mentioned as a byproduct in the 4.1.1 and 4.0.7 announcement: https://www.redmine.org/news/128

That currently leaves us with 4.0, is it eol or still maintained? In general, it would be nice to have a clear overview of the supported versions and maybe a news announcement if a version has to be considered eol.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure whether I overlooked that earlier or the "news" section added some detail in the meantime:

  • 4.0.9 is eol with the last release in April 2021.
  • 4.1.7 is the last 4.1 release so that's eol or will be very soon.
  • 4.2 is currently supported with 4.2.6 being the latest release of this branch.
  • 5.0 is currently supported with 5.0.1 being the latest release of this branch.

That is correct. Right now, only 4.2.x and 5.0.x are maintained with bug fixes and security updates.

Older releases do not receive updates by the Redmine project anymore (but might receive backports by their respective maintainers / packagers as is the case with e.g. the Debian packages)
