Redmine Subnavigation¶
A comprehensive, collapsible sidebar navigation plugin for Redmine that significantly improves browsing efficiency.
It replaces the standard wiki sidebar with a powerful tree structure containing:- Project Hierarchy: Navigate unlimited subproject levels effortlessly.
- Wiki Tree: Full expandable hierarchy of all wiki pages.
- Wiki Headings: Automatic Table of Contents (h1-h5) for the current content.
Key Features¶
- Collapsible Sidebar: Toggle with a single click to maximize screen real estate. Your preference (width and state) is saved.
- Smart Highlighting: Automatically highlights the current project, wiki page, or active heading section while scrolling.
- Recursive Expansion: Power-user feature: Hold `Alt` (Windows) or `Option` (Mac) while clicking a toggle arrow to expand/collapse the entire tree at once.
- Sticky Top Menu: Optional setting to fix the main Redmine menu to the top of the screen.
- Clean Interface: Optional setting to hide the default breadcrumb trail in "Full Hierarchy" mode for a cleaner look.
- Cascading Activation: Enabling the module in a parent project can automatically enable it for all subprojects.
- Theme Compatible: Built with modern CSS variables, supporting both Light and Dark themes out of the box.
Compatibility¶
- Redmine 5.0+
- Redmine 6.0+
Usage¶
After installation, enable the "Subnavigation" module in your project settings.
You can configure the behavior (Wiki only vs. Full Project Hierarchy) in Administration > Plugins > Subnavigation.
