How stable is devel?
Added by Marc Horowitz almost 17 years ago
I've just installed redmine, and I'm generally quite happy with it. Of course, several times now, I've run across problems in 0.6.3 which have been found and fixed on devel. I see in the roadmap the next release isn't for another month, but I'd like to pick up some of these changes sooner. How stable is devel, and how painful will upgrading from 0.6.3 to devel, and later from devel to 0.7 be?
Thanks!

The trunk is rather stable, as describe in "Checking out Redmine", but it's not fail-proof. Personnaly, I'm using 0.6.3 at work, even with little hack, and trunk at home and I had'nt met problem at this time. Migrations are trivial if you hadn't modified redmine, just follow the migration instructions
The choice is yours.

FYI, redmine.org runs a pretty recent trunk. Migrations usually take a few minutes.

I've been running devel on my site for over 6 months now. The only problem I've had is new features added to devel that I was unprepared for (e.g. workflow changes, new UIs). To counter that, I put Redmine through a more through release process to see what has changed.
I upgrade about every 2-3 weeks and it takes maybe 30 minutes.
