Use Calendar for meetings

Hi,

since the Calendar shows only issues and their deadlines, I was just wondering how it would be possible to add some none-issues to that calendar, e.g. meetings. Of course I could create a meeting issue, but I don't think this is the best way to create calendar entries.

Any suggestions or has anybody of you added meetings to the calendar?

Adding Event as a new object would make it possible to enter all types of events that have something to do with a project: Meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops etc.
People should be able to sign up or delete themselves from those events so that the initiator can see who will be there / who were there. It should also be possible to attach documents to the events for Minutes, handouts etc.

I am looking for this feature. so that we can update Paid Time Off(PTO), vacation days as well along with other events.

It would be very useful to see meetings on both the calendar and gannt chart, that way we can see what needs to get done before which meetings and which events and travel will take time away from the project.

I realize this is years old and probably won't get done, but I'd love to see this as well.
