It's not possible as far as I know, but Redmine should guess it depending on the headers sent by the client. They themselves depend on the OS + browser configuration of the client.

Some related patches were uploaded to #2691 a long time ago. However, they could get you started...

Thanks. I wonder why it is not accepted. If default is not set it takes the language from HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE. Looks fine to me.
