Unexpected behaviour an Target Versions/custom trackers

Added by Reid Mein over 5 years ago

Hi Redmine world. I've been running up against an unexpected behaviour with Redmine around the Target Version feature for issues. I've set up some target versions and am assigning issues to these targets. However, I cannot assign some issues a target version. The option is not available in the right-click menu, nor when editing the bug. When I edit an affected issue, it seems to be related to which tracker I'm using. I've added additional trackers: Research and Paperwork, for non-development tasks as are common on our project.

Interestingly, when I edit an affected issue and switch between trackers, the ability to assign a Target Version appears and disappears. It might be a bug in Redmine, but also likely is a gotcha in the way I'm using Target Versions and/or Trackers. Anyone have any thoughts?

Screencap attached.

Hi Reid welcome to the Redmine world! ;-P

My assumption is that the target version field is hidden for some particular trackers. You can check your trackers settings in the Administration section under "Trackers".

Thanks! I assumed it was user error, not a bug. Happy to know the cause of said user error; works now!
