Best Linux distro for Redmine?

I am looking to set up a redmin for our company (for internal usage). Is there a Linux distro which is known to work good (or better than others) with redmine? Since the machine will be a VM, I am quite open to different distributions.

Some distributions are "slow but stable" when it comes to packes and offered version. Think CentOS or Debian. Others, like Ubuntu and Fedora, are "faster". How would they align with redmine and its release cycles?

Right now, my go-to OS is CentOS 7, because once set up, it will run for a very long time without the need for a big upgrade which might cause dependency issues, i.e., packages removed from the distro. (As happened with the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS upgrade). Is CentOS 7 well suited for Redmine, or am I prone to run into problems in the long rum?

Also, how should I dimension my VM for Redmine? Especially, how much RAM is recommended for a small installation with up to 50 users?
Are 2 CPU cores enough?

Thanks. It is okay as a starter. Obviously the thread is really old. The newest post ist from 3 years ago, and the 2nd newest from 6 years ago. Right now I am installing it von CentOS with PostgreSQL. Let's see how it will work out.

CentOS proved to be a rather complicated choice. Mainly because the provided Ruby version is too old. Installing a newer Ruby version manually did also not work well because of access rights. (I have no ruby experience) I ended up using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS where Redmine is provided as package. Installing the Ubuntu VM and Redmine was a matter of minutes and it works niceley.
