Custom Workflows Plugin - Adding a notification when custom workflow is triggered

I have a couple custom workflows plugins set up. They work well, but I would like to notify the user when the plugin is executed. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to either

add a note...like "Quote Due Date changed based one rule "Quotes Due 2 days after Requirements Confirmed"

or even inject it into the successful submit notification...

If I understand the ask correctly, you can add a journal entry with the message.
