Description

I'm using redmine for git repository tracking.
Most of the repositories do not use the master (default) branch.

I would be nice, if one could select the default branch to show in the repository settings for each repository. If the selected branch does not exist, fallback to the default branch ("master" in case of git).

Background: E.g. when having the Linux Kernel git repository showing with redmine, this normally needs some seconds (this is a huge repository). Now, whenever you click on the repository, then some seconds are needed to display the master branch. Then, when you select the branch you really want to look at, it takes another some seconds.

Don't know if this is more or less git specific or if other SCMs like SVN, mercurial would also benefit from such a feature.
