Feature #44648
openUse a consistent font size for help text (em.info) across pages
Description
The help text displayed below form fields (em.info) is rendered at different font sizes depending on the page.
This is because its font size is defined relative to the parent element:
em.info {font-style:normal;display:block;font-size:90%;color:var(--color-text-muted);}
On Administration > Settings, the parent paragraph is reduced to 93% by .tabular.settings p, so the help text becomes smaller than in other forms. Combined with the muted text color, this makes the help text on the settings page harder to read than elsewhere.
The attached patch sets the font size of em.info to 0.8rem. This is approximately 90% of the base font size (0.875rem), which preserves the intended ratio while making the size independent of the parent element. The same value is already used for the breadcrumbs in the header (#header h1 .breadcrumbs), so this change does not introduce a new font size.
| Page | Parent font size | Before | After |
|---|---|---|---|
| Administration ยป Settings | 13px | 11.7px | 12.8px |
| Other forms (e.g. user, project, custom field) | 14px | 12.6px | 12.8px |
