Alerting project manager to assignee changes

We can have several people on a project that have manager status, which in our workflow, means they may change the assignee of a particular issues. Is there any way to have the managers automatically alerted that an assignee has changed? Other than, say explicitly adding managers as watchers on each issue?

You can select to be notified about all changes in a project (even if you do not explicitly watch an object). You can change this by navigating to your My Account page and on the top right select the For any event on the selected projects only... option and chose the desired projects. Changes in unselected projects will send you notifications about things you watch or you're involved in (eg. issues you're the author or assignee).
