Calendar / Meeting schedule
Added by gabriel scolan about 15 years ago
Dear all,
What do you think of adding a feature that enable to:
- ask for availability of the member of the project for a meeting (or for an one-day event) - similar to doodle (http://www.doodle.com/)
- schedule a meeting from redmine (sending invitation to all/ subset of the members of the team), based on the doodle-like invitation
- maintain in redmine the meetings "object", so everyone (depending on permissions may be) can see the meetings info (date, agenda, participants, minutes, ...)
- this "event" could be associated also to issues (to indicate the one reviewed during the meeting, the new action open, ...)
thanks for your feedback.

Great idea,
exactly what stops me from migrating all MediaWiki, trac, webcalendar installations to Redmine.
Using the calendar only for issues is a waste.
There where similar discussions started two years ago, but three months before your posting the thread sadly lost track...
Regards.

One more vote for this as a great idea. I use the calendar extensively but am always irked by the fact that it does not offer time ranges and other similar aspects of scheduling. If those items were in place, Redmine would be the perfect solution for much more than issue tracking.

This is a really great idea. It could even be fantastic if it could serve a .ical url and be a .ical client.

+1
I wish I could make this kind of function via redmine's plugin. (But indeed, I have no skill..)
Export ical and supporting rss are very useful to project member's meeting arrangement.

+1 !
I'd even be happy with just being able to add an "event" to the calendar that I can reference from issues, wiki etc.

Any news about this feature?
If this feature still doesn't exist.
Did someone achieve that in any other way... if any?

There is a ready to use railsapp baed on jquery called full calendar - see demo
Its nearly to google calendar..
“FullCalendar” provides a full-sized, drag & drop calendar. It uses AJAX to fetch events on-the-fly for each month. It also supports an intuitive interface to manage events that spans over multiple days or weeks. It is visually customizable and exposes hooks for user-triggered events (like clicking or dragging an event.
Could be used and embedded in redmine for appointment management, meeting schedule and holidays.

I would also like this. Is there no 'event' plugin for redmine? It's seems like a basic necessity. If there's meeting on certain days or things due on certain day that shouldn't require a task/version, it would make sense to be able to add an event to the calendar - one that could even span over time.

+1 for that, I wonder why there's no response?

yea, seen that, but I don't really want a super-duper BBB installation... I tried getting it to work once and that was one time too many. I'd be much more into something that's just a Redmine plugin, without the need to install external tools - just giving the ability to use the calendar effectively - create events and link them to all the other Redmine stuff, possibly add participants. But that's all.
The doodle functionality is - at least for me - secondary, since it would be good to be able to create events at all in the first place.
RE: Calendar / Meeting schedule - Added by Terence Mill about 13 years ago
That is eaxctly what it does. You don't need an BB server for this functionality at all. Before compalining you first should invest some effort testing things out, else just do it your self.
RE: Calendar / Meeting schedule - Added by Michael Gielda about 13 years ago
OK, I'll give it a shot - mind you, I tried BBB once and found it very cumbersome, and nowhere does the description of this plugin imply that the BBB server is optional. So don't be surprised it's not exactly something people will be willing to try out.
Anyway, that is just an explanation of why I wrote what I wrote, it doesn't change the fact that I'm grateful for the suggestion, thanks!

+1 for this one, definitely redmine/chiliproject misses some nice calendar integration.

Hi,
This is a feature Idea.
It could be nice if a meeting could correspond to an issue.
In this way, users may report time in this issue.
Best Regards,
Pierre-Yves
