Editing the description of an existing issue

Added by Jeremy Tobac over 11 years ago

How do you edit the description of an existing issue? I have redmine 2.3.3 and when I create an issue I can edit almost everything except for the issues description.

I have seen other posts that say click the "move" button near update or some link that says "more properties" but I do not see either of these options present. There is only "Update" "Log time" "Watch" "Copy" "Delete"

Is there a way to edit the description of an existing tracker?

UPDATE

Found it, if you go to the list of issues, right click it, choose edit, you get a different window than you do if you try to edit from inside the issue. This window lets you edit the description of the tracker

Press 'Update' link. Then press the pencil next to 'Description' label.

jwalker, do you have a screenshot of the button? I ask because don't see it anywhere, at "@redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/3715":https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/3715#top-menu:~:text=Philippe%20Westenfelder%20Delete-,Edit%20Watch,-Actions or redmine.documentfoundation.org/projects/websites/issues, and would like to confirm that it's either inaccessible to someone of my permission level, rather than me being stupid.

Sorry about that broken hyperlink. This markup syntax is a little brittle. If anyone has permission to edit comments, go ham.

You can click on the Edit button on your second screenshot to edit the issue (to e.g. add notes or update any of the editable fields).

In the issue edit form form, there may then be a separate ✏️ Edit link besides the Description label (below the subject). Click on this link and you can edit the description. Depending on the permission of your Redmine installation, you may not be allowed to edit all fields though.

If in doubt, try to contact the administrators of your Redmine. They should be able to confirm your permissions.
